In addition, if you’re thinking about building a new home, I think we’ve got some pretty good material here for you to consider. I’m on the Board of Directors for the Marion-Polk Home Builders Association and not only do I love builder business, but I’m pretty good at doing construction loans as well.
If you have questions about credit, there is a section on that as well. As the underwriting guidelines have continued to tighten over the last 3 years, much of the decision making and the pricing (or rate) that a customer gets is determined by their credit score. And while a 680 score isn’t bad and would have netted you a pretty good rate 2 years ago, now you’ll pay a higher rate than if you had a 740 score. So even if you have a 700 score, don’t pat yourself on the back too much, because you’re paying a higher rate too.
I’ve featured on this website a product called “37 days to Cleaner Credit”. If your score is UNDER 740, buy it! Now! You’ll thank me later for the thousands you’ll save in interest by getting your score into that sweet spot where lenders won’t charge you extra for a having a good score…but just not quite good enough.
